There are total of 27 governorates in Egypt. Cairo is the financial capital and combined with Giza and Helwan they form the Greater Cairo region. Greater Cairo serves as a vital hub for Egypt’s manufacturing and economic activities benefitting from its strategic location and dense population. There are 10 major Industrial zones supporting the region. The largest include 10th of Ramadan City and 6th of October City which house many factories and production facilities, supported by relatively well-developed infrastructure and access to skilled labor.
The region’s proximity to major transportation networks and markets enhances its appeal to both local and international investors. Egyptian ports, positioned along the Mediterranean and Red Seas, are pivotal to the national economy and international trade and serve as gateways between Europe, Africa, and Asia. Egypt has over 15 commercial ports, the largest is Alexandria Port, which is the largest and handles about 60% of Egypt’s foreign trade, and further east, Damietta Port, known for its container and cargo handling capabilities.o foster a more diverse and competitive economic landscape.
